I am a largely self-taught mixed media artist based in Sandbach, Cheshire, UK.
Growing up I loved drawing and would spend hours doodling away in sketchbooks with my favourite coloured pens but then, like many of us, I was encouraged to take a more academic route in order to “get a proper job”.
Many years (and proper jobs) later I tentatively stepped back into my creativity with the odd night class or online challenge here and there, but it was only after taking Find Your Joy with Louise Fletcher that I really started to find my way.
Her encouragement to play and notice which aspects of the creative process bring the most joy helped me to step out of my comfort zone and go bigger, brighter and more abstract.
As an unashamed painter of happy things I love the idea that the painting process should also be a source of happiness and I strive to convey that in my work.
Alongside painting I also volunteer for a local art charity and I’m a very keen walker. Getting outside in nature soothes my soul and inspires my work.
